Mariah Carey made Hollywood history this week as the five-time Grammy winner officially received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame with her 4-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan by her side.

Recently finishing the first leg of her successful "#1 to Infinity' Las Vegas residency, the 45-year-old singer stepped out with her children in the iconic Hollywood Boulevard walkway.

The songstress was joined by record producer L.A. Reid and Academy Award-nominated director Lee Daniels, who had been present to share exciting news for fans of the hit music drama series, "Empire.'

Daniels previously worked with Carey in Precious' (2009) and Tennessee (2008).

During the ceremony, Daniels made the announcement that Carey will be making a special appearance in the second season of the Fox music drama as a guest star.

"Watch her on "Empire,' you guys. She's coming on "Empire,'" Daniels said to the fans who were loudly cheering, in one of the speeches given before the singer was presented with the star.

Daniels did not go into detail as to what role Carey would be playing on the show, or whether she will get the chance to come across and interact with the series' own diva, Cookie Lyon.

Fox and Carey did not further elaborate on Daniels' announcement, but the network is set to make a formal presentation of its plans for "Empire' and other upcoming shows at a Television Critics Association panel today, Thursday.

The "We Belong Together' singer then shard her message of gratitude for her fans, saying to the crowd, "Really, you're melting my heart. You're making me cry, and that's why I'm keeping on my sunglasses. But I cannot thank you enough. This is a huge honor."

After the Walk of Fame ceremony, Carey went over to The Roosevelt Hotel for a celebratory event hosted by longtime friend Jeff Beacher who cordially welcomed the pop diva with pink long-stemmed roses.

Aside from bagging five Grammy Awards since the release of her self-titled debut album in 1990, Carey signed on as a judge on Fox's "American Idol' competition series for one season, and is currently in the middle of a performance residency that spans for nine months at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
