From three "Taken" movies to "A Walk Among Tombstones" and then to the mob film "Run All Night," 63-year-old Liam Neeson has been busy playing brooding characters with an impressive background - from being an ex CIA operative to being a former mobster - who will stop at nothing just to protect members of his family and stop terrorists.

But now, he will be shifting into a completely different genre as he takes on the role of a famous United States military figure in the South Korean war film called "Operation Chromite."

According to Empire Online, Neeson would star as World War II hero and five-star general Douglas MacArthur, who led the United Nations forces during part of the Korean War. Though he was widely recognized for being a commander, he was still removed from his position when he made statements that are contradictory to the American administration's policies.

However, the main focus of the film will not be on General MacArthur's personal drama, but on the 1950 Battle of Incheon, which is a big turning point in the war between North and South Korea, with United Nations forces launching a surprise attack against the North. The codename of the surprise attack is none other than "Operation Chromite," which they have chosen as the title of the movie.

The said war spanned over three years in the 1950s, but it never really concluded and the stalemate between the United Nations and North Korea still continues up to this day.

"Operation Chromite" will be directed by John H. Lee and will be adapted from a script written by Lee Man-Hee. Neeson is already in talks to play the lead character, and now they are busy looking for other cast members to complete their war ensemble.

Production for the movie will probably start sometime before the year ends, and they hope to release it on June 25, 2016, which would mark the 66th anniversary of the start of the Korean War. For the meantime, Neeson will next be seen in Martin Scorsese's film "Silence" and Juan Antonio Bayona's fantasy movie "A Monster Calls."

Throughout his career, Neeson has been nominated for several awards, including an Academy Award for Best Actor, a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, and three Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama. He has also been recognized by Empire magazine as among the "100 Sexiest Stars in Film History" and "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time."
