Fans of "Grey's Anatomy' fans got all hyped up when actress Sandra Oh took to Twitter and posted a photo of herself and her former co-star, Kevin McKidd, coming up with a Cristina Yang and Owen Hunt reunion.

The actress captioned the special photo with: "me & @TheRealKMcKidd at his belated bday dinner. May u catch Brave New Waves all this year dearest friend."

Viewers had been disappointed when Oh left the show after its tenth installment owing to the fact that her character has been a significant part of the storyline since the beginning.

"Creatively, I really feel like I gave it my all, and I feel ready to let her go," Oh told The Hollywood Reporter when her departure from the hit ABC series was announced in 2013. "It's such an interesting thing to play a character for so long and to actually get the sense that she wants to be let go as well."

Aside from being the most capable and determined individual among the surgical friends, she was also Meredith Grey's best friend. Looking into Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Cristina's relationship, the duo had set strong friendship goals for the show's female fans.

In the last season, Meredith was forced to deal with a life without her husband, Dr. Derek Shepherd, making things even worse without her best pal by her side. After the death of Derek, played by Patrick Dempsey, fans were upset that Cristina did not even return for the funeral, or simply in an episode where she could extend a hand to Meredith.

However, "Grey's Anatomy' season 12 speculations are now claiming that fans could get another glimpse of Cristina, especially if the right opportunity is given to Oh.

Oh has opened up about coming back to the hit series before but did not give a definite response as to whether she will really appear in one of the episodes.

Speaking about her conversations with showrunner Shonda Rhimes, the 44-year-old star said: "We talked about that when I told her I was going to leave but we haven't talked about it again. There are certain things that Shonda and I talk about once and then we leave it because we want things to happen without pressure."

In addition, the "Tammy' actress also assured fans that, if given the chance, she would be thrilled to reprise her well-loved role.

"I told her, "If you guys want to finish it out however you want to finish it out, I'd be more than happy to come back. And if it doesn't fit in that way, I totally understand. I just want you to know that I'm available,'" she added.

Meanwhile, Rhimes has not yet planned to come up with a new love interest for Meredith in the upcoming season despite the addition of actor Martin Henderson to take on the role of a new surgeon.

"Meredith is in a rebirth and she's evolving. I'm watching the character do what the character's doing and I'll see where it goes," Rhimes told E! News.

"Grey's Anatomy' season 12 will air on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
