A network carrier based in France may have just confirmed when users can begin pre-ordering the iPhone 6S from Apple.

According to the site, the company will begin taking orders for the upcoming smartphone model on September 11.

The leak, which was spotted by Phone Arena, is a memo to the carrier's employees regarding the pre-order period for the iPhone 6S. Although this hasn't been confirmed by Apple yet, the date falls in line with the Cupertino-based tech giant's traditional release schedule.

As GSM Arena noted, Apple could officially launch the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus on September 8 or 9. These dates are based on the launch of the handset's predecessor last year.

After the unveil, Apple will most likely begin the pre-orders for the smartphones a couple of days later. Users can then expect to receive the first batch of the handsets as early as September 18.

However, since Apple has not announced anything related to the iPhone 6S and its Plus counterpart yet, it is not yet confirmed if the company will follow these exact dates next month.

As for the leak, the pre-order date may only apple to users in France.

Despite the rumors and leaks, various sources are still expecting Apple to launch its next-generation iPhone models as well as new devices at a special event scheduled next month.

According to Business Insider, Apple may be preparing for a massive event in September. In previous launch events, the company usually turns to the Yerba Buena Center for Arts in San Francisco. This facility can hold a seating capacity of up to 755.

However, for next month, the site noted that Apple may have booked the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium for September 4 to 13 instead. The venue is still in San Francisco and has a massive space that can fit a crowd of 7,000.

Although it is still not yet clear if it was Apple that booked the facility, the dates coincide with the rumored schedule of the iPhone 6S launch. Also, given the capacity of the Bill Graham Civi Auditorium, it seems Apple wants a big audience to catch the first glimpse of its upcoming devices.

Hopefully, more details regarding the mysterious event will be clarified within the next few days.

As for the handset itself, the iPhone 6S is rumored to sport a 4.7-inch display. The Plus version, on the other hand, might feature a 5.5-inch screen. Both models are expected to come with Force Touch features.
