‘Minecraft’ Games: PlayStation Edition Gets ‘Star Wars’ Skin Pack

PlayStation players of the popular sandbox game "Minecraft" will now get the chance to dress up their characters in various "Star Wars" skins.

The latest skin packs first debuted for the Xbox editions of the game late last year.

The two skin packs feature over 70 "Star Wars" costumes for "Minecraft characters." The first pack, aptly named Classic Skin Pack, features iconic characters from the original "Star Wars" trilogy such as Luke Skywalker, Chewbacca, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Ob-Wan Kenobi and C-3PO, IGN reported.

The second one, on the other hand, will appeal to younger fans of the franchise. The "Star Wars Rebels Pack" features skins for the new breed of characters such as Chopper, Kanan Jarrus, Hera Syndulla and Ezra Bridger.

Both packs can be purchased from the PlayStation Store for $2.99 each. iDigital Times noted that although the new packs are based on a massive franchise, they still cost significantly less than other "Minecraft" content. For instance, the "Mass Effect" and "Skyrim" mash-up packs were sold for $3.99.

The arrival of the "Star Wars" skin packs for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of "Minecraft" indicate that even though the game and its developer are now owned by Microsoft, the parent company has not left out non-Xbox editions of the game.

Hopefully, future content for both Xbox and PlayStation versions of "Minecraft" will come out at the same time.

Aside from new content, "Minecraft" fans can also look forward to the release of "Minecraft: Story Mode." For the upcoming game, developer Mojang has partnered with Telltale Games, the studio behind various video game adaptations of "The Walking Dead" and "Game of Thrones."

For "Minecraft: Story Mode," players will get to choose the gender and race of the main character, Jesse. The voice behind the male version of the character will be provided by comedian Patton Oswalt while the female Jesse will be brought to life by Catherine Taber, the voice actress behind Padme Amidala from the "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" animated television series, according to Gamerant.

Unlike the original "Minecraft", which focuses on building environments and worlds, the upcoming title is an adventure game that follows a story. The actions of players in the game will determine the events of its future episodes.

"Minecraft: Story Mode" does not have an official release date yet but Telltale Games and Mojang are targeting to debut it sometime during the fourth quarter of this year. The game will be available for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Microsoft Windows, OS X, iOS and Android platforms.
