"Grey's Anatomy' actor Jason George, who takes on the role of Dr. Ben Warren, recently opened up about Patrick Dempsey's exit from the hit ABC series as well as the upcoming 12th season.
In an interview with People, the 43-year-old actor talked about how the writers have placed much effort in coming up with new and fresh episodes after the death of Dr. Derek Shepherd (Dempsey).
"They've hit reboot almost. There's a lot of things that make it feel brand new, but it has the lightness and sense of humor that people fell in love with in the first place," he said.
George shared that the cast and crew of "Grey's Anatomy' miss Dempsey a lot. The "Off the Map' actor also opened up about having a different vibe on set.
"Every time someone leaves the show, it changes. The show has been on 12 years, but it has to change. People think they want everything to stay the same and everyone to be happy, but happy people make for boring television, ultimately," he said.
George even teased that one of the things he missed the most about his former co-star is his car.
"Seriously though, whenever anyone leaves, you miss them. It's just a new dynamic," he said.
When it comes to relationships in "Grey's Anatomy' season 12, George said, "And the sexy sexy is back on. There are a lot of people who are not in couples now and are falling into bed. Everyone's getting a little bit of loving."
George, who plays Dr. Bailey's (Chandra Wilson) husband, was recently promoted as a regular cast member in the series.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dr. Warren made his debut "Grey's Anatomy' season six. After falling in love with each other, the two doctors exchanged wedding vows in season nine.
George also makes his appearance in another ABC drama, "Mistresses,' which is based on a popular UK TV series.
Meanwhile, ABC entertainment president Paul Lee recently assured fans that he expects the medical drama series to continue for the coming years.
"We have no reason to expect that Grey's Anatomy won't go on for many years to come," he said at his network's Television Critics Association executive session last month.
Offering positive words for the efforts of series creator Shonda Rhimes, Lee believes that the hit series is performing at its best.
"We've seen the pitch for "Grey's' for next season. The show reinvents itself again,' he said.
"Grey's Anatomy' season 12 is set to make a premiere on Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
