‘Need for Speed 2015’ News, Game Play & Release Date: Game’s PC Version Not Coming in November; Delayed to 2016

Need for Speed

Development studio announced that the PC version of the "Need for Speed" game will not be released this year along with its console counterparts.

Instead, the developer decided to push back its release to 2016 due to certain technical improvements, according to IGN.

As explained by the studio through the game's official website, the delay was caused by the development team's decision to tweak the visual quality of "Need for Speed" for the PC platform. The improvements stem from the feedback of PC players for the upcoming game.

Although the PC version of the game does not have an official release date, Ghost Games is targeting to launch it sometime during the first or second quarter of next year.

"Part of the conversation includes hearing from our PC community that an unlocked frame rate in 'Need for Speed' is a massive priority for you, and we fully agree," the studio wrote.

"This decision on PC gives us the necessary development time to increase the visuals that we can deliver on PC," Ghost Games continued.

Due to the delay, console player will have a couple of months to enjoy the game on their systems first before PC gamers get to try it. The studio will try to make up for this by launching all of the launched content updates for the PC during the first day of its release next year.

As for the game's console versions, "Need for Speed" for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will still arrive as scheduled. It will hit the U.S. market on November 3 before debuting in Europe on November 5.

However, since the game will require constant online connection, it is prone to several server-related issues. To prevent these, Ghost Games will be holding a closed beta event for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This will enable the studio to test out the capabilities of its server systems before launching the game, Gamespot reported.

The studio did not provided an exact date when the beta event will be held but it noted that it will begin testing the game a few weeks before its official release.

According to the developers, they decided to incorporate the always-online feature into the game to provide a unique type of game play experience. Ghost Games previously explained that gamers' online matches with their friends will affect the story of the game. Also, by sharing snapshots from racers, gamers will be able to gain in-game points.
