Jeremy Lin had to convince a Charlotte Hornets security guard that he is an NBA player on his first visit to the Hornets arena in Charlotte, North Carolina on Sept. 12. The 6'3" newly signed point guard thought the encounter was hilarious and tweeted about it to his fans.
"Went to the Hornets arena for 1st time and tried convincing security im a player. She said, "what team?!?" lollll #everywhereigo #literally," tweeted Lin at 9:11 a.m. on Saturday. The tweet received 8,957 Retweets and 10,019 Favorites.
Lin was delayed from entering Time Warner Cable Arena to practice for almost one hour. He posted a photo of himself practicing at a basketball court at 10:08 a.m. He wrote "#entertheswam #audienceofone."
The Taiwanese basketball player asked his fans what their prayer requests were in a mass email sent out on Tuesday, Sept. 15. Lin regularly sends in his prayer requests to his fans, but informed them that the next email would be a collection of requests made by them. He asked them to send in their requests to prayer@jlin7.com by Tuesday, Sept. 22.
"The next prayer request email will be a collection of prayer requests sent in by YOU guys! So please email back your prayer requests by 9/22. They will be anonymous so we won't include your name or anything personal," wrote Lin.
"You guys have been such an awesome prayer support group. Many of you have sent in your own prayer requests. So I thought it would be cool to have you guys pray for one another too."
Lin asked his fans to pray for him to make a smooth transition to Charlotte and that he would "really connect" with his teammates and coaches quickly. He also hopes for "personal growth with the Lord" and to take his prayer life to another level.
"Prayer is an act of submission and humility, and I want to have random prayers throughout the day be more instinctual," wrote Lin.
Lin praised God for a great offseason of training. He said that he tried to enjoy each day, instead of obsessing over progress. Lin added that he wanted to rest in Christ and found that he got a lot accomplished at training.
Lin asked his fans to pray for his younger brother Joseph, who is also a professional basketball player. He wants his brother to "always seek God wholeheartedly" and for him to not "allow any amount of success or failure to come between him and God."
