iOS 9 Features & Reviews: Users Complain Apple’s Latest Platform Caused Their iPhones to Slow Down

iOS 9

Within more than a week after Apple unveiled the iOS 9, several iPhones users have started complaining about certain issues associated with the latest version of the operating system.

Majority of those who reported issues said their devices' operations became noticeably slower after upgrading to the newest platform, CNET reported.

Based on the complaints submitted by users as well as video reviews of the iOS 9 posted on YouTube, the issues mainly affect those with older devices. Specifically, owners of devices from Apple's iPhone 5 series said that their phones started lagging after updating the operating system.

iPhone 6 owners, on the other hand, are divided regarding the issue. While some did not notice any problems with the new platform, other said their devices slowed down a bit.

According to a poll conducted by tech news site 9to5Mac regarding the performance of the iOS 9, almost 70 percent of 27,725 respondents reported noticing slower performances on their devices.

Some users said launching apps take more time with the iOS 9 than on older versions of the operating system. Switching between different apps is also slower and navigating using the device's touch screen is also has a dragging effect.

"Immediately after upgrading my iPhone 6 to iOS 9 I noticed major lagging - definite increase in slowness," one user posted on Apple's support page. "I've restarted the phone several times and it does seem to be getting better, but it's definitely not where it was with iOS 8."

The Cupertino-based tech giant, however, has not yet released a statement regarding the issues faced by users with the iOS 9. But, as noted by some users, those experiencing problems with the newest version of the operating system can try re-starting their devices to improve performance.

Some users, on the other hand, have resorted to disabling all features connected with Apple's virtual personal assistant Siri to improve the device's operations.

As noted by CNET, it somehow does not come as a surprise that owners of old iPhone models are experiencing lagging issues and slower operations with the iOS 9.

Since Apple's latest firmware platform comes with new updated features, these can take a toll on the device's internal specs. In other words, in order to deliver a smooth performance, devices need to have powerful processor models and large battery capacities to support the operating system's update features. This is probably the main reason why the iPhone 5, which comes with the A6 chipset, performs a lot slower than the iPhone 6 and its A8 processor.
