Almost a year since Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton revealed that they had gone their separate ways after spending 13 years together, the actress has spoken up about their highly publicized Hollywood breakup.

Sitting down with Red magazine for their November issue, the "Dark Shadows' actress opened up about her shocking split from the 57-year-old director, revealing that the former couple still share something special. However, such bond will not guarantee that the romance will last forever.

"I think we're coming through it, and I think we'll have something very precious still. Our relationship was always somewhat special, and I think it'll always remain special," Carter admitted.

The 49-year-old actress and her ex-beau "separated amicably earlier in 2014 and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children," Carter's rep stated at the time of their separation.

The "King's Speech' star remains optimistic when it comes to future circumstances with the "Beetlejuice' director. She also mentioned how blessed her life has been since Burton came, blessing each other with children and more.

"Sometimes you're not meant to be forever together. Sometimes you have to come to terms with the fact that that was it. But that was a gift, a massive gift," she shared.

In addition, Carter debunked rumors that she and Burton lived separately as a couple. It was previously rumored that the pair lived in two adjoining buildings in Belsize Park in London.
The "Harry Potter' actress referred to these speculations as "myths" and confirmed that they resided under one roof together.

Carter and Burton, who first crossed paths on the set of Burton's 2001 reboot of "Planet of the Apes,' never exchanged wedding vows.

The former couple, nonetheless, continues to co-parent their children, 11-year-old son Billy and seven-year-old daughter Nell.

"I'm more conscious of the kids' childhood going, because that goes so fast, it's a bit like watching one of those time lapses. There's no pressing pause," Carter said.

Meanwhile, the BAFTA-winning actress had already opened up about having to achieve balance when working with her ex-partner.

"It's not without its pressures, working with Tim," Carter previously explained in an interview with The Guardian. "It worked on "Alice.' "Sweeney' was very stressful, very hard on our relationship."

"He's a partner in our private life, but when he's directing, he's the boss," she shared of her relationship with Burton on-screen and off-screen. "And maybe I confuse that."
