Gamers have already been playing "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" for some time now but developer Konami has just revealed details about the game's secret event.
According to the development studio, players will only be able to access the Secret Nuclear Disarmament Event through proper team work, Gamespot reported.
Rumors and speculations about a secret event in the game have been floating around since September, only a few days after the official release of "The Phantom Pain." Back then, these were only considered as fan theories.
But recently, Konami confirmed that these theories are true and that the game really does have a secret event. In addition, the developer also revealed how fans of the game and the MGS series can unlock this mode.
According to the developer, the Secret Nuclear Disarmament Event can only be unlocked if certain conditions are met.
The first thing that gamers need to do is finish the game's Mission 31. Then, they must return to their base and dismantle all of their nuclear weapons. This also includes discontinuing the development of their own nukes.
Next, the amount of nuclear weapons on all of the regional servers corresponding to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC platforms must be dismantled. In other words, the total number of nukes per server must be reduced to zero.
Of certain players refuse to give up their nukes, other gamers can sneak into their base and dismantle the nuclear weapons through the game's multiplayer mode, according to Forbes.
The studio noted that once all of the conditions are met, the secret event will be unlocked.
"If all four conditions are met, you will automatically trigger the Secret Nuclear Disarmament Event when you return to Mother Base or after you complete a main mission," Konami wrote on the game's website.
"Should new nukes be developed after conditions 3 and 4 have been fulfilled, this event can be repeated by fulfilling all four conditions again,"
Of course, in the world of MGSV, giving up the nuclear weapons will significantly decrease the security of Mother Base. However, it seems Konami wants to create a nuclear-free virtual world by getting everyone to participate in the Secret Nuclear Disarmament Event.
As of November 25, Konami noted that the number of nuclear weapons owned by gamers on different platforms has significantly decreased. Check out the developer's tally below.
