Korean church leaders from the Los Angeles region gathered to prepare and pray for the upcoming Line in the Sand prayer movement, which will be happening on November 11 at the Honda Center.
As the November 11 inter-ethnic prayer movement, A Line in the Sand, is fast approaching, the Korean church has been actively preparing for the event in prayer. After the first preparatory prayer meeting took place in mid-July, the Korean church has been meeting regionally un South Bay, San Diego, and in Orange County to prepare for the November 11 event. For the Los Angeles meeting, Korean church leaders met on October 1st, with David Andrade and Lillian Ong, two of the organizers of A Line in the Sand.
"Wherever I go, I can find Koreans who are praying. They are fervent soul-winners," said Andrade, highlighting the role of the Korean church in this prayer movement. "But we are in a time of crisis. We [Americans] no longer want to follow the Holy Spirit. And when we do not want to follow the Holy Spirit, we lose the power of the Church."
Andrade mentioned the Ebola outbreak in West Africa and the fact that the Islamic State is in the midst of Americans, and emphasized the urgency to repent and pray on behalf of the nation.
Following the Los Angeles preparation meeting, there will also be preparation meetings in Fullerton for young adult pastors; the Valley; East Los Angeles; and Cerritos. Monthly meetings will be taking place in respective church denominations, and Line in the Sand organizers are also encouraging churches to set aside a specific Sunday to pray for the nation.
The prayer movement will take place at the Honda Center from 9 AM to 9 PM, during which church leaders from different ethnic groups will lead prayer for allotted blocks of time. Specifically, the Korean church will be leading prayer from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Organizers are praying for 60,000 attendees, and that 20,000 of those would be Korean attendees.
A Line in the Sand 2014 will be the second such event, the first of which happened on November 11, 2011, during which 12,000 Koreans participated, making up almost a third of the total attendees. Between 2011 and now, there have also been other prayer movements for the nation, including one that took place at the Faith Dome in the Crenshaw Christian Center in 2012.
