Debris after quake in Nepal
Many buildings have been destroyed as a result of two large earthquakes in recent weeks. |

The successful testing of a miniaturized hydrogen bomb in North Korea brought about a magnitude 5.1 earthquake. According to government agencies, the effects of the earthquake was detected in the provinces near the testing site. While officials described the tremors as "artificial," the sudden movement of the earth still instilled fear and panic among the members of the public. Moreover, this experiment caused some members of the community to be anxious over the repercussions to them and the neighboring states.

In this time of fear and panic, here are words from the Bible to help ease the anxiety.

1.When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3

2. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

3. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

4. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? Psalm 118:6

5. He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" Mark 4:39-40

6. Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? Luke 12:22-26

7. Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you." Deuteronomy 31:6

8. Of David. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. Psalm 27:1-3

9. Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy. Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done. Revelation 22:11-12

10. For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. 2 Timothy 1:7
