God, I thank you that you proceed with your work, even in the tragic backdrop of Herod's brutal command, using the seemingly small and insignificant things to restore and prepare for the work of salvation (Mt 2:13-23).
Even though I may currently be in the midst of sadness and suffering, I believe that God's work is in progress--so would you help me to experience healing in Your way, thriving in the mercies of the Lord who resides in the lowly places, though I may face persecution and loss.
Notwithstanding whatever loss that I may experience, may I not give up my faith and devotion nor be dismayed. Help me to bear the burden of carrying the cross, like that which saved the world. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen."
