A Pastor's Journal Series: Kaleidoscope or Telescope

Jonathan Lee

Another busy and hectic year is winding down as we enter the last couple of weeks of the year. As I look back at the continuous turning of the stages of circumstances and incidents throughout the year, I was reminded of the kaleidoscope of life.

We are living in this world of mixed segments and blended colors. It's impossible to focus and concentrate on one element. So we try to make a sense out of complex peoples, contradicting circumstances, and irregular changes, only to find more mix-ups and confusions.

How can we fix this blurred vision? Change the device. Put down the kaleidoscope and pick up the telescope. The kaleidoscope of the world makes our minds confused and out of focus. The spiritual telescope will bring us to close-up with God and help us to focus on the cross of Jesus Christ.

When you try to find God through the telescope of the cross, you will find that he's been zooming in on you all along.

Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. (Isaiah 40:26)
