Xbox One Backwards-Compatible Games List: ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’ and ‘Red Dead Redemption’ Available Soon?

Xbox One Backwards Compatible Games

Xbox One gamers who are looking to play classic Xbox 360 games on their latest-gen console were given a treat late last March with the release of new backwards-compatible games.

And as latest rumors suggest, gamers could enjoy more popular Xbox 360 games on their Xbox One in the coming months, including "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare" and "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2."

According to Daily Star, the two Call of Duty: Modern Warfare games will be playable on the Xbox One later this year. The report added that Activision have yet to remaster both games for the Xbox One, but sources confirmed that Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 will indeed be playable on Microsoft's latest-generation console.

Fans speculate that the Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2 will be released as pre-order incentive for the new Call of Duty game that will come out this year. This strategy is similar to what publishers of Fallout 4 and Dark Souls 3 did, as the new games were bundled with Fallout 3 and Dark Souls 1, respectively.

Meanwhile, gamers are still waiting for more updates on when "Red Dead Redemption" will be added to the Xbox One backwards-compatible games. The popular Xbox 360 game from Rockstar once appeared on the Xbox Store several weeks ago but was pulled out, with Larry Hyrb saying that it was just a mistake.

"Microsoft tests all Xbox 360 games with our emulator to ensure a quality experience across a breadth of titles," he said on Reddit. "Due to an error, some of the games currently in test were accidentally made available. We have since removed access to those games, and apologize for any confusion this may have caused."

It is worth noting, though, that games like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 also appeared on the Xbox Store alongside Read Dead Redemption. Castlevania: SOTN and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 were also recently added to the Xbox One Backwards-Compatible games list.

Since the Xbox One Backwards Compatibility program was launched in November 2015, there are now at least 140 Xbox 360 games that are now playable on the latest-generation console, Express reported.

The report also added the Dead Space and Saints Row IV, which were included in Xbox Live with Gold titles for April, will eventually be added to the Xbox One backwards-compatible games list.
