NFL Trade Rumors 2016: Los Angeles Rams to Pick Jared Goff in Draft? Nick Foles Likely Gone Before Camp

Nick Foles

The Los Angeles Rams will likely deal Nick Foles before the start of training camp, as they are looking to acquire a quarterback in the upcoming 2016 NFL Draft.

According to NFL insider Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Rams have former California quarterback Jared Goff on top of their draft board. Los Angeles bagged the opportunity to select Goff in the draft after trading for the No. 1 pick with the Tennessee Titans on Thursday.

The Rams, who are looking to make an impact in their first season since moving to Los Angeles, acquired Tennessee's No. 1 pick along with fourth and sixth rounds selections this year in exchange for their 15th, 43rd, 45th and 76th picks this year to go with their 2017 first and third-round picks.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher confirmed that they already took a serious look at Goff and fellow top quarterback prospect Carson Wentz before they struck the deal. Wentz is also under consideration, which is why the Rams decided to finalize the deal with Tennessee instead of waiting until draft night on April 28.

"We've also done private workouts with Jared and with Carson already," Fisher said. "We did those at the end of February, early March. We were the first ones in. We're familiar with both of them in addition to those other prospects on this roster. So, the skill sets are different, the personalities are different, the background is different."

With the Rams' impending selection of a potential franchise quarterback in the draft, Foles' exit looks imminent, as a recent report from Pro Football Talk indicated that the 27-year-old QB will be traded before training camp kicks off.

"One source with knowledge of the dynamics already has predicted that Foles likely will be gone by the start of training camp, and that he definitely will not be on the team before Week One," NFL insider Mike Florio said.

Foles, who moved to the Rams via the deal that sent Sam Bradford to the Philadelphia Eagles in March 2015, completed 56.4 percent of his passes for 2,052 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 11 appearances for the Rams last season.
