Good Neighbors

Good Neighbors USA, an international humanitarian organization, has become the first NGO founded by a Korean to become a part of InterAction, a network of some 180 humanitarian and relief organizations. The group's membership was officially confirmed on Wednesday.

In becoming a member of InterAction, Good Neighbors joins numerous renowned relief and humanitarian agencies such as Oxfam, Salvation Army World Service Office, World Vision, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and International Rescue Committee, among many others, and will be able to join the network's working groups, meetings, training sessions, and annual forum.

"We look forward to even more effective service through the networking and partnership opportunities that we will have with member organizations of InterAction," Good Neighbors stated.

"As a member of InterAction, the expertise of Good Neighbors USA in relief aid activities is being recognized, and we receive a greater advantage in our likelihood of receiving funding from international and governmental agencies such as the United Nations, the U.S. State Department, USAID, and others," the organization continued.

Good Neighbors was founded in 1991 in Seoul, Korea to help disadvantaged children, and has expanded its work since then to improve the social welfare of communities and offer relief aid in 38 countries through programs such as building clean water wells in Africa and providing sponsorship for children, among others. The organization received the General Consultative Status with the UN in 2007, during which it also received the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Award.
