Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex) refused to endorse Donald Trump on Wednesday night during his speech at the Republican National Convention.

"I congratulate Donald Trump on winning the nomination last night," Cruz said. "And like each of you, I want to see the principles that our party believes prevail in November."

At a morning meeting with the Texas delegation in Cleveland, where he was questioned about his failure to endorse Trump, Cruz said that he is "not in the habit of supporting people who attack my wife and attack my father," according to ABC News.

In March, Trump tweeted a photo of Heidi Cruz and his wife Melania Trump, saying "A picture is worth a thousand words." A few months later, Trump alleged that Cruz's father, Rafael Cruz, was involved in the JFK assassination.

As it became obvious that Cruz would not be endorsing Trump in his speech, delegates began to boo Cruz off the stage, shouting Trump's name.

"Don't stay home in November," Cruz told the crowd. "Stand and speak and vote your conscience."
