Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, one of six theological schools affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, has changed its name to Gateway Seminary of the Southern Baptist Convention as the school has moved its main campus to Southern California ahead of the upcoming fall semester.

The new campus is located in Ontario, about 40 miles from Los Angeles. The school has also been using a new website with the domain, www.gs.edu, along with the old domain, www.ggbts.edu.

The school, which was established in 1944, has been located at its previous campus in Mill Valley since 1959, and decided in 2014 to move to Southern California. At the time, the school announced that it would change its name to Gateway Seminary as the campus will no longer be located in the Golden Gate area. It has officially changed its name this year after the new campus was officially ready for the new school year.

To commemorate the new campus, Gateway will be hosting a number of "dedication events" during the first weekend of October. Dr. Craig Evans, a world renowned theologian, will be speaking at the school's annual Deere Lectures on the topic, "Ancient Biography and the Reliability of the Gospels," on October 6 at 2 PM. On the same day, Gateway will be hosting a gala in the evening featuring a musical performance by Keith and Kristyn Getty. On October 8, a 'Gateway Festival' will be taking place all day, open to the public, to celebrate the new campus with the community with food, campus tours, and other activities.

Meanwhile, following the school's move to Southern California, the school opened a new Northern California campus in Fremont, CA, located about 50 miles southeast of Mill Valley, where the campus used to be located. The school also has other campuses located in Phoenix, Denver, and Portland, as well as another Southern California campus in Brea, CA, which operates a Korean and English dual language program.
