Milal Mission, a non-profit which serves individuals with disabilities, hosted its annual Camp Agape from June 29 to July 1 with its Southern California, Northern California, and Vancouver branches all together. Camp Agape, which is hosted jointly by the branches in the West Coast, has been hosted for the 19th time, and some 400 individuals with disabilities and volunteers participated this year.

Though the camp had usually taken place at the University of California, Santa Barbara, this year’s camp took place at a hotel in Bakersfield. This year’s event was based on the theme, “Holy SWAG (Spirit with Amazing Gift),” and on the theme verse Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

A joint choir team consisting of members from multiple churches, called PPOG, led worship, and a young adult volunteer team called TRAC helped coordinate the programs.

As with every year, this year’s camp also featured a time of feet washing and communion, through which God’s love was shared.

“As the volunteers washed the feet of those with disabilities, we all were able to experience and carry out the sacrificial love that Jesus has toward all of us,” said one organizer of the event.

Milal Mission also holds other programs throughout the year, including Class Agape, a free Saturday school for students with disabilities that focuses on social skills and academics.
