▲Passionate praise at NeXgen gathering

The Oriental Mission Church was once again stirred up by youths. The reason the church was noisy was due to the powerful cheers and praise by the youths at the gathering that took place on the evening of April 25.

Oriental Mission Church holds an annual youth praise gathering NeXgen is for those who have friends that feel awkward at church or those who attend church but haven’t meet Jesus. Nexgen stands for “Next Generation” in other words the next generation after Jesus. It began in 2005 June 17 with the purpose to unite the 1.5 Korean American youths that are the next generation of faith and raise a wave of praise of Jesus in Los Angeles. This was the 4th event with about 600 constant streams of visitors.

The youths that came to the gathering radiated their youthfulness jumping up and down in tune with the praise. The event featured also a performance of hip hop dance which the youths would have liked to try with curiosity. The youths cheered the powerful dance move of junior high school dance team and became one through the gathering.

“I have participated in NeXgen since 3 years ago but I received the most grace this time. I had a lot of problems with school friends and parents. But through this event I realized that God wishes to use me. I feel like I have another chance,” shared a participant.

“I came to the event through a friend’s introduction. It has been a year and half since I came to U.S. but its difficult adjusting to school however praising together at the event while praying my heart became peaceful. I want to know about Jesus, attend church to pray,” shared Seungbum Bak.
