Promise Church Jesus Festival 2008

ChristianityDaily Reporter Promise Church Stephen Young Adult Department will hold ‘Jesus Festival 2008: The One’ for two days on April 26 and 27.

The young adults will show a Korean remake version of the musical Godspell composed by Stephen Schwartz which opened in Broadway in 1971 with the title ‘The Savior: A remake version of musical Godspell.’

“The musical Godspell that is performed in many places is being adapted in the Biblical viewpoint of young adults to step closer to young adults in NY. The fact that performances are adapted into the cultural, biblical code fitting to young adults has a big meaning towards the Christian evangelism performance culture which before showed the same performance prepared by different church,” shared a staff member of Stephen young adult department.

Also currently is editing a movie that deals with story of cultural and belief differences in NY that the international students and immigrants feel, and how to solve the conflicts that occur. In production of a music video that fits with the cultural flow of Christian praise.

There will be a Red Carpet event on April 26 for those who are unfamiliar with the culture of the church to feel more comfortable and to become closer.

“The One- for a bigger one theme is not only just for believers. The One can have three meanings. First The One shows Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for us. Second The One can mean one person that Jesus wishes to meet through his sacrifice of shedding the blood of Jesus. That can mean me or you who are reading this article. It is to invite that one person. Lastly The One can mean that one person gather to form a big community of faith to overcome the world and become young adults to change the world. Therefore this Jesus Festival 2008 we are anticipating the participation of young adults who are nonbelievers. Even if you have friends who are not part of this church I wish that you will invite those who wish to meet Jesus. We have prepared this occasion for young adult who have not yet met Jesus,” revealed President Ji-hyun Song who is preparing this event.

Jesus Festival began as an evangelism gathering through praise 16 years ago has developed into many different shapes as time passed. Attempted to approach with the basic format of praise, word and fellowship and this year with a more colorful approach spread the gospel of Jesus to nonbelievers. About 100 young adults have been preparing for musical, movie, music video, food and fellowship since beginning of February.

Also Stephen Young Adult will gather with those who have been invited after the event to share a meal cooked by them to share a time of grace with the young adults only.
