RCA Council of Pacific & Asian American Ministry ¡®Two Generations: One Mission¡¯

¡ãPanel discussion with second generation ministers
The RCA (Reformed Church in America) Council of Pacific & Asian American Ministry (CPAAM) general assembly took place at The Shin Kwang Church of NY on May 2, 3 for two days. At the general assembly gathering leaders of Korean American church, Chinese church, Japanese church, Malaysia, India, discussed various themes about the unity of Asians, first and second generations.

The general assembly theme was ¡®Two Generations: One Mission¡¯ and Dr. Hak Joon Lee, Associate Professor of Ethics and Community at New Brunswick Theological Seminary lectured on the theme ¡®Two Generations¡¯ in the morning of May 2. In the afternoon there was a debate for each community, and panel discussion with the participation of second generation ministers on reducing the gap between first and second generation. Also there was a regional table tennis tournament for the participants to have a good time and in the evening held a gathering with Pastor Jae Hong Han as speaker. At the gathering the congregants of Shin Kwang Church of NY attended as well.

The Council of Pacific & Asian American Ministry general assembly began in the morning of May 3 with the report of each country, after the general assembly pastor Chong Pyo Lee gave a presentation with the theme ¡®One Mission.¡¯

¡°The Korean Americans are most concerned regarding second generation ministry. Therefore the Korean American ministers were entrusted with presentation. Especially Professor Hak Joon Lee lecture created a sensation among the other community ministers,¡± mentioned Pastor Hak Ryong Kim who is the vice-president of Council of Pacific & Asian American Ministry.

¡°The general assembly was a place of confirming that we are all one in the gospel transcending ethnicity and race. Before there were many Chinese churches at the Council of Pacific & Asian American Ministry however now with about 50 Korean American church has the most occupancy,¡± explained Pastor Jae Hong Han.
