As one of the most celebrated rappers in the international scene, Kanye West's presence in the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom was not something that avid music fans would want to miss out on. While the crowd during the weekend was ecstatic over the notable performances of the artist, one particular member of the audience got a tad overexcited and appeared to have failed to contain his enthusiasm.

Kanye West's performance was interrupted when a fan climbed the stage and began to rap with the artist, according to USA Today. While this confused some members of the audience, it appears that the said fan is actually a widely known prankster who calls himself "Lee Nelson." Reports point out that the real name of the stage invader is Simon Brodkin, a comedian who has multiple personalities which he utilizes depending on the nature of his pranks.

The disruption occurred during Kanye West's fourth song, "Black Skinhead," with Nelson running on stage and standing close to the rapper himself. While the security team immediately launched into action, it was not before the prankster managed to sing a few verses with Kim Kardashian's husband. Asked on the reason behind his sneak attack during Kanye West's Glastonbury Festival number, Nelson shared via social media that he took inspiration from the 2009 Grammy Awards Night incident involving the rapper and pop star Taylor Swift.

He posted on Twitter, "I Kanye'd Kanye. That was for you @taylorswift13 #Leezus" He also posted other messages pertaining to his stint during Kanye West's performance. Nelson wrote, "Some people were saying Kanye shouldn't headline Glastonbury so I thought I'd give him a hand."

With respect the issue raised by Nelson regarding the disapproval of some fans to have Kanye West headline the Glastonbury Festival this weekend, it had been earlier reported that others believe the move to allow the rapper to lead the event made this year's celebration veer away from the true meaning behind the occasion.

"Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world," read the petition started online in an effort to push the festival to hire a rock band to perform instead of the rapper. It added, "We spend hundreds of pounds to attend glasto, and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment."

It then went on to say, "Kanye has been very outspoken on his views on music." The petition continued, "He should listen to his own advice and pass his headline slot on to someone deserving!" It then urged, "Let's prevent this musical injustice now!"

Despite the obstacles along the way, Kanye West delivered a memorable performance during the festival. Boosting his popularity even more, the rapper's rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen sparked debates on the quality of the number, according to The Independent. While the issue remains unresolved, one thing is certain - the rapper himself sees himself as the "greatest living rock star on the planet."
