Fulton Street Revival which began on 1857 September 23 through Jeremiah Lamphier¡¯s prayer of repentance and revival spread not only to Philadelphia through New York, New Jersey but all over the nation. The great awakening movement and revival saved America as one nation from the Civil War from 1861, and numerous young adults went out to the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ on hand.
The 3rd great awakening movement resulted in dispatching self-reliant missionaries all over the world to spread the gospel of Christ. Among them Underwood and Appenzeller missionary entered Korea in 1885 to begin mission. The Great Pyongyang Revival of 1907 brought ancestors of faith that were loyal till death to serve the Lord in 1910 during Japanese colonization and through the Korean War in 1950 when there was numerous Christians being slaughtered that is how Korea after 100 years became a nation of receiving God¡¯s great grace and blessing and is the second largest nation of dispatching missionaries to the world.
Even though U.S. is the world¡¯s strongest and prosperous country it has reached the point of accepting material idols and idols brought by other ethnicity all over the world even for Christians. The time has come for someone to step forward to awaken and repent for America¡¯s and our sin by prayer. If the Great Pyongyang Revival began by the missionary¡¯s prayer of repentance, then how pleasing will God be if there was another great revival like 1858 in America through the awakening and prayer of repentance by Korean American Christians?
There has been no other nation or ethnicity (except the Caucasian who continued the Puritan faith) that began an awakening and movement of prayer for the revival of America is without precedent till now. Imagine the 4th great awakening movement of America began by us. Imagine by the repentance and revival of America it has become a country mobilizing all manpower and resource to serve the world through the gospel. JAMA (Jesus Awakening Movement for America) movement is to take ownership for the revival and healing of America for all generations to gather together and to pray.
-Excerpt of JAMA President Dr. John Kim writing-
The New Awakening Conference that first began in June of 1996 at Colorado State University with about 3,000 university students is greeting its 7th event this year. The gathering which is planned as the largest scale of JAMA gathering will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia on June 29-July 2.
As JAMA gathering has been held few times near New York and with many request of ministers and participants for the New Awakening to take place in New York even with persistent search for location at Madison Square Garden, Times Square however the location and accommodations were not suitable for a big conference it was eventually decided to be held in Pennsylvania.
Therefore Dr. John Kim recently provided a place to explain about the overall aspects of great awakening conference recently in New York. Commemorating the 150th anniversary of 3rd great awakening movement that spread all over the nation centered around New York Manhattan, Philadelphia, New Jersey especially in 1857-58 the theme of the event is ¡®Lord, Let Your Glory Come Down: Repentance, Reconciliation and Revival.¡¯ There are general sessions where youth and adult gather together and track sessions divided into special interest and age groups.
The track sessions are ¡âJAMA Kids, ¡âYouth, ¡âCollege, ¡âCrossroads (post-college singles only), ¡âMarketplace Leadership, ¡âHealthcare Professionals, ¡âSpiritual Formation, ¡âEM Pastors.
For the Korean speaking tracks there is ¡âMarriage & Family, Pastor¡¯s Wives by Christian Marriage & Family Ministries, ¡âBiblical Financial Management by Crown Financial Ministries, ¡âQ.T. by Q.T. Life, ¡âMissions by M.O.M. (Messengers of Mercy), ¡âKM Pastors, ¡âIntercessory Prayer to cry out passionate prayers of repentance, reconciliation and revival with anticipation of Lord¡¯s glory to come down. Especially there was a Late Night Option in Singles Night for the Korean speaking single young adults.
The new awakening conference that was planned to take place once every 4 years by the earnest request of parents who witnessed the change in their children changed to take place annually since 2003.
From the 3rd new awakening conference the practical administrative power was passed to the next generation and the conference began to take appearance of first and second generations working together. Also the featured speakers at the upcoming event were directly selected by second generations.
The featured speakers at the conference are Rev. Jim Cymbala pastor of The Brooklyn Tabernacle, Dr. John Piper is pastor for Preaching at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, and Rev. Paul Han is Lead Pastor at Grace Korean Church, Rev. Sung Kee Ho is Senior Pastor of Antioch Church of Philadelphia, Rev. Daniel S. Kim is Senior Pastor of Sarang Community Church, and Rev. Nam Soo Kim is Senior Pastor of Promise Ministries (Full Gospel New York Church) for the praise there are famous musicians like David Crowder Band, Delirious.
¡°We pray that God¡¯s glory will be upon the conference, sincere service and spirit of repentance will be with us to experience reconciliation and unity and for God¡¯s revival to overflow individually, family, church, this country and world. It will be beneficial time for all generation to have time of praise, worship and listening to message with no distance among the generations for 4 days. We wish that family will participate together with prayer and receive grace,¡± said Dr. Kim.
¡°If the sons and daughters of God do not act as owners of America then who will. I have met about 300,000 English speaking young adults for 22 years and have traveled to about 50 countries worldwide. Overflowing with God¡¯s love and grace without rest delivered the gospel. It is because the young adults are our wish and hope. Don¡¯t confine our children as sons and daughters of minority race. Don¡¯t raise children that are like eagle inside of a chicken cage,¡± requested Dr. Kim.
¡°Revival cannot come by human force. There are many crying out for a church revival without repentance. JAMA movement is a movement for the church with the church through the church,¡± added Dr. Kim.
