As sequel to one of the highest-grossing films of all time, "Avengers: Age of Ultron' has been expected to become a record-breaking movie that will take the global box office by storm.

However, Joss Whedon's comic book masterpiece may meet a strong rival this summer as Sony's sci-fi action comedy, "Pixels,' starring Adam Sandler reportedly generated 34.3 million views for its official trailer.

The "Pixels' clip raked in over 34 million views in the first 24 hours after its release. Interestingly, such figure helped the film in triumphing over "The Amazing Spider-Man 2' in terms of viewing and streaming records.

Meanwhile, the third trailer for "Age of Ultron' generated 35 million views in the first 24 hours after its release on March 4.

Last year, the most-watched trailer was the "Fifty Shades of Grey' with 93 million views in a span of five months. It was then followed by the "Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens' trailer that generated 81 million views in only a few weeks following its release last December.

Directed by Chris Columbus, Sandler stars in "Pixels' alongside Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, Kevin James, Michelle Monagha,n and Ashley Benson. The movie highlights scenes from Patrick Jean's short film in 2010, which follows the story of an alien race that misinterpreted the classic arcade game video feeds as the humans' call for war.

As such, the aliens go on a journey to Earth, sending games and characters as representations for their attacks. These include Pac-Man, Qbert, Donkey Kong, and more of their kind.

The first trailer for "Pixels' shows Sandler and his team in their attempt to save the world from these classic video game creations; they seemed impressed as well at the fact that huge versions of their arcade heroes are in a mission to destroy the Earth.

Pixels will hit theaters on July 24 in the United States and August 12 in the United Kingdom. The "Avengers: Age of Ultron' is also expected to create a loud buzz at the box office when it is officially released on April 23 in the United Kingdom and May 1 in the United States.
