Microsoft has released the new Pattern Texture Pack for "Minecraft" to enhance the game's visual quality.

Unlike previous DLCs, the latest content update went live at the same time for both Xbox and PlayStation versions of the game, according to Game Spot.

The Pattern Texture Pack improves the dim appearance of the game by allowing players to use bright colors and vibrant patterns to design their "Minecraft" creations. The DLC also comes with a new knitted design pattern for animals.

The arrival of the latest DLC for the PlayStation editions of "Minecraft" at the same time as their Xbox counterparts came as a surprise to some gamers.

After Microsoft purchased the game's developer Mojang, PlayStation users feared that the tech giant might prioritize the release of new content for Xbox owners. For instance, the previously released Simpsons DLC arrived first for the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Another example is the Mass Effect Mash-Up DLC. More than a year after debuting for the Xbox consoles, this content update is now available for "Minecraft" players using the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, IGN reported.

As its title suggests, the pack lets gamers dress up their "Minecraft" characters to look like those from Bioware's 2012 third-person shooter game "Mass Effect 3." The DLC also allows players to recreate "Mass Effect" structures and areas in their "Minecraft" worlds.

"The Mass Effect Mash-Up enables 'Minecraft' players to explore the Mars Facility from Bioware's 'Mass Effect 3' and create their worlds using Mass Effect textures and craftable items," Mojang wrote on the PlayStation blog.

"A themed UI and menus plus 36 character skins and 22 music tracks let players battle Reapers in a blocky 'Minecraft' universe," the studio added.

The Pattern Texture Pack and Mass Effect Mash-Up DLC can be purchased through the Xbox Store and the PlayStation Store. The former costs $0.99 while the latter is priced at $3.99.
