Nexus 5 (First Generation)

Google is reportedly preparing to ship its upcoming Nexus 5 2015 along with the highly anticipated Android M software.

The tech giant is expected to make the unveil at the upcoming Google I/O conference which will commence on May 28, International Business Times has learned.

For the 2015 or second generation version of the Nexus 5, it was previously reported that Google is closely working with LG and Huawei for its design and manufacturing process. According to Android Pit, the upcoming smartphone from LG will sport a 5.2-inch full HD IPS display and will be powered by the Snapdragon 808.

It will have 3GB of RAM and will be equipped with the Andreno 418 graphics processing unit.

For its camera features, the Nexus 5 2015 will pack a 13-megapixel rear shooter with OIS and HDR mode and a 5-megapixel front snapper.

On the other hand, tech news site MobiPicker revealed that Huawei's Nexus 5 2015 will sport a 5.7-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. The site also mentioned that the device will run on the more powerful Snapdragon 810 chipset from Qualcomm.

For its OS, the Nexus 5 2015 is expected to run on the upcoming Android M. Although the new OS update will be available to new devices, Android Police reported that it may not arrive to other handsets.

Based on the timeline provided by the site, major system updates will only arrive for Nexus devices that were released not more than two years ago. However, Google guarantees security patches for devices that were purchased from Google Store or the Play Store three years ago.

Given this period, some recently released devices, such as the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, are still eligible to get the update. However, older handsets such as the Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and Nexus 7 2012 have exceeded the OS' cut-off period.

Both the Android M and Nexus 5 2015 are expected to be unveiled this week. The upcoming smartphone might be released n the market sometime in October or November of this year.
