There is much hype surrounding the rebooted "Power Rangers" movie, and a lot of its fans from the 80s and 90s are pretty thrilled that they would get to relive their childhood through it.
Now, the most recent news that have surfaced about the film is that it will be showcasing the talents of new actors and actresses, according to Screen Rant.
Umberto Gonzalez of Heroic Hollywood said that his sources claim that the studio is looking for newbies to fill in the roles of the five-man team of the "Power Rangers." Casting has actually begun already and Gonzales teased that "it's expected to be all unknown actors for the actual Power Rangers as the studio wants them all to play late teens."
Other sources added that the film will be a "mature but playful" take on the story of the five teenagers who have the ability to morph into superheroes and fight the villains of the universe.
The "Power Rangers" is actually a long-running television series that boasted of 22 seasons, two feature films, and several other reboots. The original rangers were played by Austin St. John (Red Ranger, Jason Lee Scott), Walter Jones (Black Ranger, Zack Taylor), David Yost (Blue Ranger, Billy Cranston), Amy Jo Johnson (Pink Ranger, Kimberly Hart), and Thuy Trang (Yellow Ranger, Trini Kwan).
The film will be written by Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller (X-Men: First Class). Roberto Orci was first recruited to produce the film; however, on September 19, 2014, Orci announced that he will no longer be producing the film because of his commitment with the Star Trek series.
He was replaced shortly on September 24 that same year, when Jason David Frank said that he will probably be involved in the Power Rangers film. He added that filming will start sometime in 2015. Moreover, on April 10, 2015, news surfaced that Dean Israelite is being eyed to direct the film.
It was actually given an early release date; however, Lionsgate has already announced that the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers film reboot has been moved from its original release date of July 22, 2016 to January 13, 2017.
Sources say that the original release date is already very "crowded," given the return of Matt Damon's Jason Bourne, the fifth Ice Age animated film, Sony's rebooted female Ghostbusters, and Warner Bros' Suicide Squad will be released around that date, so Lionsgate has decided to switch its intended release date.
