"Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas managed to create another hit with the zombie detective show called "iZombie," and just three months since it first aired, the show has already been renewed for a second season.
People have grown to love the characters of Liv Moore (Rose McIver), Detective Clive (Malcolm Goodwin), morgue co-worker Ravi (Rahul Kohli), and ex-fiance Major (Robert Buckley). Of course, there is the resident villain Blaine (David Anders), who totally messed up Liv's zombie life by creating even more zombies and killing off her new love interest Lowell (Bradley James).
A lot of people are undoubtedly infuriated with Blaine, but Thomas said that he'll definitely still be in the show's second season.
"It's so funny, people love to hate Blaine. He's a character that every writer on staff wants to write for because he makes things delicious," he said in an interview with Collider. "He's been given the complete green light to go for it on the material and chews as much scenery as he wants to, and it's been fun."
In the first season finale, Blaine definitely gets "put through the ringer" but Thomas said that viewers might secretly want him to still be in the show and wreak more havoc. The show creator even compared him to some other well-loved villains from another show, "Game of Thrones."
"I want to see Ramsay Bolton cut up into little bitty pieces, and I want to see Cersei get hers, but I want her to continue being in the show," he admitted.
Another character in question is Liv's best friend Peyton (Aly Michalka), who bolted out from her apartment after witnessing Liv destroy another zombie and realizing that Liv has actually been one for a long period of time.
"We all love her and we love writing for her. The danger of having someone that's a guest star is that you can lose them, at any time," Thomas admitted. "Unfortunately, we don't have Aly as a series regular and we had a certain number of episodes we could afford to put her in, and we were at our limits there."
On the other hand, exciting things are in store for Major, and Thomas teased that he will be included in more action scenes.
"Early in the season, when he was in mopey mode and just seemed to be sad, people weren't loving him," he said. "But when we hired Robert Buckley, I pitched him the arc that we shot. I said, 'You will be a man of action. You will not simply be the boy that Liv fawns over.'"
And it worked. People began to like Major even more, and even though there are some people who are worried over the social worker's safety, Thomas told them not to worry.
"I had so much fun watching him take charge in that final episode. I'm really hoping the fans dig it," he said.
