Moto X 2nd Gen

A new leaked image of the Moto X 2015 edition coincides with the previous rumors regarding Motorola's upcoming device.

In addition, based on speculations regarding its features, the Moto X 2015 might come in two variants, according to 9to5Google.

The latest image of the 3rd generation Moto X handset was posted on Twitter by upleaks. Based on the image, the rear cover of the device features a horizontal metal panel that houses the rear camera, LED flash and Motorola's logo.

This is almost similar to the image revealed by leaker Total Tech on YouTube a couple of weeks ago. In Total Tech's video however, the device sports a wooden back cover.

The YouTube user also showed through the device's Settings that the Moto X 2015 has a 5.64-inch display with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels. It also has 3GB of RAM and 21GB of internal storage.

Apparently, Total Tech's post shows off the larger variant of the Moto X 2015 since based on a specs sheet revealed by tech site STJS, the upcoming handset will also have a smaller model.

According to the site, another variant of the Moto X 3rd generation will have a 5.2-inch Quad HD AMOLED display. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 808 processor from Qualcomm and will have 4GB of RAM. The device is also expected to have either 32 or 64GB of internal storage.

For its camera features, the smaller version of the Moto X 2015 will reportedly have a16-megapixel main shooter and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper.

Both versions of the device are expected to run on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS.

As for the possible release date of the Moto X 2015, Motorola President Rick Osterloh previously said on Twitter that the company follows an annual cycle for its products, which includes the Moto X line of devices, according to Pocket Lint.

This means that since the first and second generations of the model came out in August 2013 and September 2014 respectively, the Moto X 2015 might be released during those months this year.
