Given the number of interviews the stars of "Terminator: Genisys" have provided over the past few weeks, as well as the amount of information they have already divulged regarding the upcoming movie, fans of the "Terminator" franchise feel pretty confident as to where the storyline is headed.

But there is still a lot of mystery involved in the franchise, particularly regarding the true nature of Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800 as well as Jason Clarke's John Connor. Is he still good? Does he really become a machine?

Schwarzenegger spoke about just that in an interview with IGN, and the former governor said: "My mission is to protect Sarah Connor, and his mission is to protect Sarah Connor. So in the end, he realizes that he's been sent back to the past from the future to protect her, but she already has a protector, and so there's a little bit of struggle between the two of us."

John does not trust the Terminators, since he came from a future where the machines have taken over the world and have been bent on destroying the human race. What John has failed to realize is that Schwarzenegger's T-800 has been wired to protect humanity, particularly Sarah Connor (played by 'Game of Thrones' star Emilia Clarke).

In fact, Sarah's Guardian has become so close to the child he has raised that she fondly calls him "Pops." Naturally, her relationship with the Guardian does not sit well with her son, and so there's going to be some jealousy involved.

Schwarzenegger does say, however, that the two will ultimately put aside their differences and "become partners."

In a separate interview,  Schwarzenegger said that the Terminator's story is actually not as far-fetched as it appears to be since people do rely heavily on machines to get their work done.

"A world that was actually very futuristic and very science fiction in 1984, it has now almost become a reality. That's the dangerous thing doing a 'Terminator' today, we're not dealing with something that is that far off in the future," he told IGN in an interview. "So we are there that the machines have totally taken over the world, the machines just haven't become self-aware."

Aside from the stars already mentioned, other cast members of the movie include Jai Courtney who will play John's loyal soldier Kyle Reese, Dayo Okeniyi  who plays Danny Dyson, Courtney B. Vance who plays Miles Dyson, while Lee Byung-hun will portray the T-100.

"Terminator: Genisys" will be shown on cinemas on July 1, 2015. Two more sequels for the franchise has already been set by Paramount pictures, with the first one to be released on May 19, 2017 followed by the third installment on June 29, 2018.
