LG is reportedly working on releasing the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for its G2 handset.

According to sources, the update will come with new features that were first introduced in LG's current flagship smartphone, the G4, Phone Arena reported.

Reports about the upcoming update for the LG G2 came from an LG employee who works at the company's software development division in South Korea.

The insider said that LG is planning to roll out the update in the next two months. However, this does not indicate that all users will receive the OS upgrade at the same time. Since it will be seeded by various local network carriers, the update will still undergo various tests before it debuts. This means it might take a couple of more weeks or maybe months before carriers are able to officially release the update.

According to the insider, the update will be first unveiled to users in South Korea before heading to the U.S. and other regions.

As to what LG G2 owners can expect to see in the update, the employee said that the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come with LG's latest UX 4.0 UI, which first came out with the G4.

With the update and the latest version of the user interface, G2 users will be able to experience similar features as the G4. Although this has not yet been confirmed LG, some of these features may include a new anti-theft security mode and the option to switch from Wi-Fi to Bluetooth networks through the Quick Settings Menu, according to Techno Buffalo.

Also, G2 owners might get the guest mode feature which allows multiple users to access a single device using their own personal accounts.

LG officially released the G2 in September of 2013 and came with the stock Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. The only major update that the device received was the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop which arrived in March of this year, Phandroid has learned.
