New rumors are suggesting that Xiaomi has rescheduled the launch for its upcoming flagship device.

According to various sources, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is now expected to be officially unveiled by the company on August 5.

Originally, the Xiaomi Mi 5 was reportedly scheduled to debut sometime in November of this year. But now, based on recent leaks, it seems Xiaomi is targeting to introduce its latest high-end smartphone to the public at an earlier date, Android Headlines reported.

Although the reason behind this is still unconfirmed, it might have something to do with the rumored releases of other major handsets later this year. For one, Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 6S in September. Previous reports indicated that this is probably the main reason why Samsung also rescheduled the launch of its upcoming devices.

By debuting early, Xiaomi will be able to beat its competitors in offering consumers a high-end handset.

In terms of its specs, previous leaks suggested that the Xiaomi Mi 5 wil sport a 5.3-inch Quad HD display. It will also come with a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 6-megapixel selfie snapper.

It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 810 chipset, but other sources noted that it will come with the faster and more efficient Snapdragon 820. Also, it is not yet clear if the device will pack 3GB or 4GB of RAM.

As for the device's internal storage, various tech sites reported that it will come with either 16GB or 64GB of native memory. Although unconfirmed yet, this detail might be referring to two storage-based variants of the Mi 5.

The device is expected to come with the latest version of the Android Lollipop on top of Xiaomi's own MIUI OS.

The other features of the Xiaomi Mi 5 include the fingerprint scanner, a feature that is becoming a staple of many high-end devices from major manufacturers. However, as noted by Tech2, the fingerprint reader of the upcoming device will be based on ultrasound technology, instead of optical as seen on current handsets.

In addition, the smartphone is also expected to come with wireless charging feature.

Aside from the Mi 5, the company is also rumored to be working on a larger or Plus variant of its next flagship device. Dubbed as the Mi 5 Plus, it will reportedly come with a 6-inch display with a bezel-less design.

However, since the company has not yet officially confirmed the details of its upcoming devices, their specs, features and possible launch date are still considered as rumors.
