"The Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson, who plays Katniss Everdeen's love interest Peeta Mellark in the series created quite the frenzy after he hinted to Conan O'Brien during the recent Comic-Con that there would be more films after "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2."

But now the star is retracting from his earlier statements, especially after sources close to Lionsgate revealed that there is not any future movies related to "The Hunger Games" in the works.

Huffington Post decided to get to the bottom of things and ask Hutcherson himself if there is any truth to the hints he gave recently, and the young star replied, "Yeah, I mean the truth is I don't know anything. I would like there to be more because they're really fun to make, and it's a fun character, but... afraid that I'm not clear on that one," Hutcherson said.

Should there be any more, Hutcherson said that it is highly dependent on the vision of "The Hunger Games" author Suzanne Collins, who is the brains behind Panem and the 12 districts.

"If it does happen, at the same time it's like, it has to be something that Suzanne really believes in," he continued. "It has to be something that she creates naturally. It's not just trying to make more movies out of it."

But Hutcherson has a few ideas of his own as to how the studio can expand "The Hunger Games" universe, and it can start with the time jump found in the last book, "Mockingjay."

"The last book kind of jumps from them kind of having a final moment... and then it jumps to another point in the story, and there's a gap there in the middle. I think that could be a start," he said. "So I don't know what would happen exactly, but all I know is that their own country and developing nation with all kinds of turmoil and ups and downs, I feel like there's a good story in there."

Hutcherson has his plate full with movie projects. Aside from "Mockingjay Part 2," which will be shown later this year, he will also co-star in "Project Imagination: The Trailer," the psychological thriller "The Rusted" by Kat Candler. In the latter, he will be joined by "The Hunger Games" actress Jena Malone and they will be playing a brother and sister facing strange occurrences while they are renovating their childhood home.
