"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling is a genius, and many Potterheads would be quick to agree. After Harry's disastrous and short-lived romance with Ravenclaw Cho Chang, she shifted his romantic interest towards Ginny Weasley seamlessly, and she started doing so in the sixth book "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince."

It was Reddit user named "nombono" who noticed how Rowling first did so while re-reading the book. During Professor Horace Slughorn's first Potions class, they were discussing the love potion Amortentia. Slughorn explained that each person smells the Amortentia differently, and when Harry took a sniff at it, he actually smelled Ginny without even realizing it.

This was how Rowling wrote it in the book: "This left Harry, Ron, and Hermione to share a table with Ernie. They chose the one nearest a gold-colored cauldron that was emitting one of the most seductive scents Harry had ever inhaled: Somehow it reminded him simultaneously of treacle tart, the woody smell of a broomstick handle, and something flowery he thought he might have smelled at the Burrow. He found that he was breathing very slowly and deeply and that the potion's fumes seemed to be filling him up like drink. A great contentment stole over him; he grinned across at Ron, who grinned back lazily."

Many people did not think much of Harry's personal scent preference, but Rowling  later revealed in the same book where that mysterious "flowery" scent in the Burrow actually came from. She writes, "'Hang on,' said a voice close by Harry's left ear and he caught a sudden waft of that flowery smell he had picked up at Slughorn's dungeon. He looked around and saw that Ginny had joined them."

Harry only realized that he is in love with Ginny when he saw her kiss Dean Thomas, and this meant that his body was already being drawn towards her even if his mind has not caught up yet to his feelings. He struggled with his feelings for a while until Ginny broke up with Dean and he finally made his move.

They managed to start a beautiful relationship in the sixth book, even as Harry dealt with school problems and the search for Lord Voldemort's Horcruxes.

When Rowling closed Harry's story, he is married to Ginny and they have three kids together - James, Albus, and Lily. They maintained a close relationship with Harry's best friends Ron Weasley (Ginny's elder brother) and Hermione Granger, and all of their kids also attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
