Carrie Fisher's character Princess Leia will be called a different name in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and this new title is something that suits the actress really well.

"She's referred to as General," director and co-writer J.J. Abrams revealed during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "But... there's a moment in the movie where a character sort of slips and calls her 'Princess.'"

Fisher said that she is okay not being referred to as "princess" anymore, and she even suggested jokingly that the other "Star Wars" characters should address her by saying, "Hey! You! My one true joy!"

On a more serious note, Fisher said that her character is adjusting to her new role with some difficulty.

"Not easily," Fisher said about Leia's transformation, "solitary. Under a lot of pressure. Committed as ever to her cause, but I would imagine feeling somewhat defeated, tired, and pissed."

It has been several years since Fisher acted after they finished shooting "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi," and Abrams was admittedly concerned at first how she will feel acting again for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

"She'd been writing more than she had been acting," Abrams said. "So I think that for her, it was a bigger adjustment, which she made beautifully."

Abrams cannot gush enough about Fisher, whom he describes as a "crazy brilliant" individual.

"It's an amazing thing, her sort of free-associative mind, her ability to find humor in anything - she's like a divining rod for wordplay. She's incredible," he said.

Abrams added that the stakes are actually pretty high for Fisher's character Leia in the film, but the stars of the film were all pros in his book.

"It felt historic to have her, especially with Harrison (Ford), back in scenes together. I can only imagine the baggage that they bring to it, I'm just a fan who loves this stuff, but they've been living with it - and living in it - since '77," he said.

Fisher joked once again that she, Ford (who plays her love interest Han Solo), and the others are all "pretty sick of each other by now," so they only pretend to be interested in each other in between takes.

"And we fail. I'm mostly interested in how (Ford) stays in such good shape. I can talk to him about that for a long time," she said.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will be released on December 16, 2015.
