Because she isn't really a typical superhero, Scarlett Johansson's character Black Widow is able to keep a neutral stance among all the other Avengers who will be arguing and bumping heads in the upcoming Marvel film "Captain America: Civil War."

Johansson even said that her character will try to bridge the peace between certain characters, although it is a difficult task.

"You know, I think she understands where everyone is coming from. And none of it really matters to her, you know? There's a bigger problem at hand and she's, I think, strangely, kind of the mediator. Which is not exactly how you would imagine her to be," she told Entertainment Weekly. "But I think she really does see both sides of the coin and I think her strength is that she's not personally involved."

Johansson believes that the Black Widow's current involvement with the elite superhero team is not something she really wanted, but simply chanced upon because of life's circumstances.

"You know, I don't think she's ever aspired to become an Avenger. That's not really a choice that she made. It's kind of like the events in her life led her to that point and when we see her (in Civil War), she's finally capable of making a choice for herself. Which is kind of a milestone in someone's life when they've not really participated in the decisions that were made for them," explained Johansson.

"She's finally at a place where she's going, 'Okay, I actually kind of know what I want. And I think I kind of deserve it.'"

Meanwhile, other superheroes who cannot seem to get past their differences and go on neutral ground are Chris Evans' Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man.

In fact, Downey is happy that his character will be taking on the role of the antagonist in the film, even though he is someone that people look up to as the good guy.

The actor explained why: "I've always thought of it in some ways that Tony is the antagonist to himself in his own story, so this isn't a problem. This guy understands problems 'cause he is a problem. And he tends to create problems. I'm not having to patter around what I think the worldview is. I wholeheartedly agree with what he does in this. Which is, by the way, more than I could say for some of the other movies."

"Captain America: Civil War" has been scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.
