Britney Spears is a Valley girl and Iggy Azalea is an alien bombshell from outer space in their latest music video for "Pretty Girls." The female duo released the video on Wednesday, May 13. Spears and Azalea will perform the song live for the first time at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday, May 17. The music video has 301 views and 66K likes on Youtube.
Spears is laying down poolside when a spaceship falls into her backyard pool in the middle of the night. Azalea, dressed in a futuristic silver space dress walks out of the pool robotically. The alien gets a makeover from head to toe in the house to get ready to go out. Spears and Azalea are dressed in 80's fashion, with leopard print, big sunglasses, and blonde crimped hairstyles.
"It's just a lot of fun. It's a classic, girly (song) you want to scream to each other when you're getting ready," said Azalea in an interview with USA Today.
The music video is inspired by 'Clueless,' a 1995 television show about a group of rich teenagers who live in the Valley. Spears said that she got ideas for the video after watching an episode of 'Clueless' on tv and Azalea's "Fancy" music video. The video's storyline makes parodical references to "Earth Girls Are Easy,' a 1988 film about a group of aliens who crash land on planet Earth. Azalea and Cameron Duddy co-directed the video.
The electro-hop trap single "Pretty Girls" released on May 3. American singer Spears and Australian rapper Azalea announced their musical collaboration in Fall 2014. Spears initially asked Azalea to be featured in her new single after watching Azalea's music video for "Fancy."
"Pretty Girls" was produced by The Invisible Men. The song was written by Iggy Azalea, George Astasio, Jason Pebworth, Jon Shave, Maegan Cottone, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Ann Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall. It was recorded with RCA. The original track runs for 2 minutes and 44 seconds.
