Custom ROM developers have released their own Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the LTE variants of Samsung's Galaxy Note 3.

This unofficial CM 12.1 update is only available for the LTE version of the Galaxy Note 3 with the model numbers N9002, N9005, N9006, N9008, N9008S and N9008V. Also, the update can only be installed on Galaxy Note 3 phablets powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 processor, according to Android Geeks.

If the update is installed to the non-LTE version of the phablet, or those that are powered by an Exynos, there is a strong chance that the device might get bricked.

The custom ROM Android 5.1.1 Lollipop can be downloaded through the Android Ice Cold Project's website. Users should also download Google apps because CM 12.1's ROM file does not come with this service.

Once the files have been downloaded, users should connect their Galaxy Note 3 LTE devices with the proper model number to a desktop computer through a USB cord, International Business Times reported.

But before installing the files, users should back up all of their smartphone's data and clear its memory. They should also make sure that their devices have at least 60% battery power. If the device loses power, the installation process will get interrupted and brick the smartphone.

To start the installation, the CM 12.1 and Google apps filed should be placed inside the device's SD card memory. Once this has been completed, user should turn off their device and disconnect it from the computer.

For the next step, users should activate the device's Recovery mode and clear its memory and cache memory. Then, they should return to the main Recovery menu and install the zip files from the SD card.

Once the installation process is over, they should return to the main Recovery menu and restart the device. It will take around five minutes for the device to reboot completely, WCCF Tech has learned.
