OnePlus

During the recent weeks, the OnePlus 2 smartphone has received ample media coverage due to its appearances in various benchmark tests.

Based on these reports, here's a roundup of the features and other important details users can expect for the One's successor.

First of all, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei recently clarified that the company's upcoming smartphone will be called "2," and not "Two" as mentioned in previous reports.

Also, based on benchmark tests, the upcoming flagship device will sport a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels. The device will be powered by an upgraded processor in the form of Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset. Its predecessor, on the other hand, came with the Snapdragon 801, International Business Times reported.

The OnePlus 2 will also come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. For its camera specs, the device will be packed with a 5-megapixel front selfie shooter. For its main camera, the OnePlus 2 will sport a 16-megapixel main snapper. The rear camera is expected to come with LED flash and 4K video-recording capabilities.

For its OS, the device will most likely come with OnePlus's own Oxygen OS, which is based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop. This system was developed by the company after its partnership ended with OS maker Cyanogen.

As for its launch, various sources are speculating that OnePlus will unveil the 2 handset during an event happening on June 1, according to Digital Trends.

Although it is an official event, Pei noted that it is not for the company's upcoming flagship device. He said that the 2 will be unveiled during the third quarter of this year, which could be sometime in July, August or September.

In addition, Pei said that the company might adopt the same invite system it used with the One device for the 2 handset. But this time, the company will give out more invites to reach a wider consumer base for the upcoming smartphone.

For its price, the OnePlus 2 handset is expected to hit the market at around $400.
