ZenPad S 8.0 Specs & Release Date: Asus Unveils New Tablet with 8-Inch Display

Asus has officially unveiled at Computex 2015 the latest addition to its line of tablet devices.

Named as the ZenPad S 8.0, this new slate's design is based on the ZenFone 2 and will be marketed by Asus as one of its high-end devices, according to 9to5Google.

The ZenPad S 8.0 sports an 8-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. According to the company, device's screen offers a 178-degree wide viewing angle and has a pixel density of 324 ppi.

It comes with Asus' own Tru2Life Plus technology which eliminates blurring and enhances the overall visual quality of the screen.

For its processor, the Taiwanese tech firm powered the ZenPad S 8.0 with Intel's 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 chipset. It is equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Consumers will also have the option to purchase the separate Z Stylus pen, which can be used with the ZenPad S 8.0.

Aside from the high-end 8-inch ZenPad S, Asus will also release budget-friendly versions that come with 7, 8 and 10 inch displays. Although the company did not go into detail regarding their specs, Asus said the 10-inch model will come with a removable keyboard.

During Computex 2015, Asus also introduced the newest members of its Zen devices. These include the Zen AiO Series PC, the ZenFone Selfie with a 5.5-inch screen and the successor of the company's ZenWatch wearable device, the ZenWatch 2.

"I am thrilled to be at Computex to unveil our newest Zen-inspired innovations," Asus Chairman Jonney Shih said according to a press release from the company.

"These exciting new creations strike a balance of power and beauty, and perfectly embody our 'In Search of Incredible' vision of creating seamless and connected digital lives for everyone," the executive added.

The company, however, the not reveal the exact release dates of the upcoming devices or how much they will cost.
