Cyanogen has just released a new OS update for the OnePlus One handset.
According to the OS maker, the Cyanogen OS 12 update will be able to fix certain issues plaguing OnePlus' current flagship device, Android Police reported.
The update is based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop and will upgrade the smartphone's firmware version to YNG1TAS213. Its size is around 556MB.
Cyanogen claimed that through the update, various nagging issues of the OnePlus One will be solved. These include problems with sending MMS through various carriers and failure to connect the device to in-car systems via Bluetooth.
In addition, the company said that the update will fix the bug that affects the device's touchscreen sensitivity. Previously, various users complained that the keyboard sometimes displays the wrong characters when typing. Others said the touchscreen feature is not as responsive.
Currently, the ROM version of the update can be OTA zip file to get update. Users can easily install this file to their devices using an internal SD card. The update will then be flashed through stock recovery.
There are no details yet as to when Cyanogen OS 12 with build number YNG1TAS213 will be made available as an OTA file. However, users can expect it to be rolled out globally soon.
But just a reminder, the Cyanogen OS 12 update is based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop. This is different from the Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12.1.
Earlier this month, OnePlus announced through its forum site that the Cyanogen OS 12.1 update is expected to arrive for the One device soon once its testing and certification procedures have been finalized.
"CM12.1 updated to 5.1, I on its way," the company wrote. "We have a preview build that's undergoing factory testing and Google certification. You will have it soon."
