iPad Mini 4 Updates & Specs: Images of Apple’s Upcoming Tablet Leaked

The casing of Apple's upcoming iPad Mini 4 has been leaked online by Twitter user OnLeaks.

The leak came a day after Apple pulled out the original iPad Mini from its online store, which signifies that the Cupertino-based tech firm is preparing to launch its latest tablet.

As pointed out by the followers of OnLeaks, the casings of the iPad Mini 4 look a bit like those made for the iPad Mini 3. However, based on the images, the upcoming slate will feature a few design changes.

For one, the case does not have a slot for a mute switch. In addition, it only features a single open row for speakers. Also, OnLeaks noted that the iPad Mini 4 will feature a microphone near the device's main camera and not a flashlight.

Since the casing for the iPad Mini 4 has already been revealed, various sources are speculating that the rumored tablet may debut soon. Some speculated that the device might be unveiled sometime in October, which is the same launch period of the iPad Mini 4's predecessors.

GSM Arena noted that Apple may be preparing for the possible launch of its newest tablet because it recently removed the iPad Mini from its online store's virtual shelf.

The site reported that users will no longer be able to buy the original iPad Mini model from the Apple Store. The only remaining models are those that run on Apple's A7 and A8X processors, 9to5Mac has learned.

Although Apple has not yet issued an official statement regarding the removal of the iPad Mini, this strongly suggests that the company is preparing to move forward by offering the upcoming iPad Mini 4 to the public.

As for its specs, the rumored tablet will reportedly run on Apple's latest iOS 9 OS and will be powered by the A9 processor. It will also have 3GB of RAM and offer users 128GB of internal storage.
