Various sources are reporting that Samsung has started rolling out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 4 phablet.
Although the South Korean tech giant has not yet detailed the features of the update, it's probably safe to assume that it comes with the same basic improvements and enhancements brought by version 5.1.1 to other Samsung devices.
Currently, only Galaxy Note 4 users residing in Russia are getting the update. There are no announcements yet as to when the firmware upgrade will arrive in other regions.
As pointed out by Phone Arena, it might take some time before the update is rolled out to U.S. users since the network carriers such as Sprint and Verizon will first conduct their own testing procedures on the firmware before officially releasing it to the public.
Once the update is available, users will probably receive a notification regarding its status. Or, they can manually check for its availability through the Settings menu.
There are no specific details yet regarding the update other than the fact that it can be downloaded as an over the air file. As for its features, Sam Mobile noted that it probably has basic bug fixes as well as security enhancements.
However, unlike in the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, the update for the Galaxy Note 4 might not have the same advanced features such as RAW support for the camera app or the option to customize the notifications setting by removing the Quick Connect and S Finder toggles.
The arrival of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to the Galaxy Note 4 is the device's latest major update. When the phablet first entered the market in October of last year, it came with the stock Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS. It was only upgraded to the Android Lollipop's version 5.0.1 last April.
