The Wolves could be coming nearer to Alexandria but these hostile survivors will not be announcing their arrival at the gates of the walled community in the beginning of the sixth season of "The Walking Dead.'

In the season five's finale episode, the antagonistic group caught a glimpse of Alexandria through a number of photos. With a zombie army close by, fans could be jumping to conclusions that the Wolves' plan is to attack the community early on in season six.

However, despite not giving certainty to such plan, showrunner Scott Gimple did confirm that the Wolves will not be showing up during the first few episodes of the upcoming season.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gimple was asked about how major the Wolves' role would be in season six. He also teased the possibility that the group could still appear in future seasons.

"Is it season 6, season 7, season 8? I'll tell you, I don't know if I'd be as completely direct as to have the first thing we do when we pick up season 6, is to jump into anything with the Wolves," Gimple said. "I wouldn't probably do that. I don't think we would do that."

He also revealed that certain twists and turns will come up in the new season, and what fans are looking forward to may not always be the real thing.

"It's hard to explain," Gimple admitted. "The thread will not be dropped, but there's, like, spoilers on top of spoilers there. [The Wolves play] a big part in the season, but maybe not in the way that people would expect."

If the Wolves will not be showing up at the gates of Alexandria in the new season's first few episodes, it remains a big question as to who or what the community residents will be facing early on.

"There are multiple threats, even in the first half of the season," the TV and comics writer revealed. "And sort of different versions of threats we've seen before."

While Gimple did not go into detail about such threats, it is expected that one or more of these will not be living human beings.

During the "Talking Dead' episode following the season five finale, host Chris Hardwick read a note written by Gimple that dropped clues as to what viewers can expect from the upcoming season. An excerpt from the note states the following:

""¦The show reinvents itself every eight episodes, and we're doing it again, friendos. Now that these characters know they have what it takes to survive, what are they going to do with that power? How will they choose to live?"

Gimple also added that the "Walking Dead' team has been prepping up for their "most ambitious stuff yet."

"The Walking Dead' returns to AMC for its sixth season in October.
