Fans who are looking forward to seeing Daniel Craig in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens' could possibly end up being disappointed as the James Bond actor recently slammed the rumors that he is set to play a small role in the upcoming film.

It was previously reported that Simon Pegg "accidentally" let slip to newspapers that Craig has signed on to "The Force Awakens' as a Stormtrooper.

Pegg was being asked about his role in the upcoming sci-fi movie and he told the Sun: "I wasn't a Stormtrooper. Daniel Craig, he was a Stormtrooper." He quickly took back his statement, adding: "I shouldn't have said that."

"Daniel asked for some sort of secret cameo role - and was happy to have his name left off the posters," an insider further claimed. "Fans will love trying to work out which covered-up character is him."

However, Rachel Weisz's husband now has only one thing to say to the idea: "Pffft."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Craig opened up about being caught in the middle of the Stormtrooper speculations and asked, "Why would I ever bother doing something like that? Play an extra in another movie?"

He suggested for news sites to "talk to Simon Pegg. He obviously knows way more than I do."

The "007' actor also added, "He's [Pegg] just jealous because he's not in "Star Wars.' He's got some issue with ["Star Wars' director J.J. Abrams]"¦You need to talk to Simon about it."

On the other hand, based on the behind-the-scenes clip released at Comic-Con, Pegg will be making an appearance in the "The Force Awakens.'

With his recent statements, it has become a big question whether Craig is mistaken or even joking about Pegg not showing up for the new "Star Wars' film and about himself not taking on a small Stormtrooper role.

After all, the "Spectre' actor does not actually deny a possible cameo role in the upcoming installment.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens' is set to hit cinemas on Dec. 18.

Meanwhile, the new James Bond film "Spectre' has been scheduled for an official release this November; aside from Craig, the highly anticipated film also stars Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris.

Directed by Sam Mendes, the action adventure movie marks Craig's fourth time to portray Bond. While it was presumed that the actor sustained his knee injury while performing a stunt for "Spectre,' Craig previously told Jimmy Kimmel about trying to perform as many of the scenes as he can.

"I like the fact that occasionally you'll see on screen that it's my face and it's me," he said. "And I think audiences hopefully appreciate that."
