"The Walking Dead" season 5 suffered from a lot of terrible twists and turns, and Glenn Rhee (played by actor Steven Yeun) was given one deadly blow after another - Bob and Beth both died, while Noah was eaten by a zombie right in front of him. Then Nicholas leaves Glenn and the others as zombie food, and when they meet up again, Glenn gets shot by Nicholas.
Although he survived all these horrible things, Glenn is left for the worse, and when asked by Entertainment Weekly how his character and the others will fare during season 6, Yeun painted a pretty dismal picture.
"It's easy to use the buzzwords - to say 'roller coaster' or 'intense,'" said Yeun. "I think last year was a very good indicator of where we're headed. We're seeing everybody as who they are now. You've found them grizzled. You've found them completely broken and shattered and they've all witnessed and experienced terrible things. And so you get to see them there."
He said that the characters will be wearing their pain, grief, and isolation on their faces and their bodies, but that does not mean that there will be no healing.
"To see where we've evolved to is awesome. So season 6 is that, is showing how much has been taken away from us. The end goal is to find some semblance of life that we lost before. I think you're going to see some deeply emotional character story and you're also going to see, as we always do, some crazy (things)," he said.
Meanwhile, Melissa McBride, the actress who plays Carol Peletier in the show said that season 6 is nothing but "crazy."
"There's so much stuff going on," she said. "They're topping last year, I can tell you that."
When asked how, the actress explained: "As far as mindset, there's a lot of things going on in different story arcs and different characters coming in that are really pitting the characters against their own selves as far as, you know, where they stand."
She further explained that the characters have been around themselves long enough, doing the same things over and over again, so there would be other people with different points of view who will challenge everything they've been doing.
"But where do you put it? How do you sit with it? That's one of the things that's also happening. It's a crazy ride," she said.
