A best acting Oscar award has eluded A-list actor Leonardo DiCaprio for so long, even though he has taken on roles that are definitely worthy of the buzz.

This year, DiCaprio is once again in the running for the award given his riveting performance in Alejandro Inarittu's "The Revenant," which also stars "Mad Max: Fury Road" star Tom Hardy.

Today confronted DiCaprio recently how he feels about possibly winning an Oscar this year. The actor hinted would love to be recognized for his work, but at the same time, he understands if there are other actors who might be considered as more worthy for the award.

"Honestly I do these movies because I really love movies and I want to make great movies. All that stuff is totally beyond your control, it really is," he said.

During an earlier interview, DiCaprio shared that he is not a huge fan of sequels because he believes that each movie he made can stand up on its own.

"To me, every movie that I've done has been its own piece of individual art," DiCaprio told Variety. "That's not to say I wouldn't do something that has sequels. Some of the greatest movies in the world - 'The Godfather' - have had sequels. 'The Godfather 2' is fantastic. You read a script, it's got a beginning and an end. It's hard to envision that being resurrected again. It just hasn't happened."

"The Revenant" can be considered as another one of DiCaprio's masterpieces because of the complex working conditions they had to endure just to film it.

"It was the most difficult film, I think, that any of us have ever done," he said.

His character Hugh Glass does not speak much in the film, and this is why "The Revenant" is almost like a silent movie. But DiCaprio hopes audiences will still be moved by it despite the lack of conversations because "we wanted to find the poetry" in the work about a man who hunts down the people who have already left him for dead.

Inarittu added that they filmed in 30-below temperatures, so "conditions were against us all the time." To make matters worse, the director is not used to the freezing cold weather. "I'm a tropical man from Mexico City," he said. But still, Inarittu insisted on quality performances and would reshoot something if the actors did not get things right.
